If you already use HubSpot, GitHub, FL Studio or other specialist software, that experience could be relevant to paid AI training work. micro1 has openings where contributors demonstrate real workflows, explain their decisions and help judge whether an AI system completed a task correctly.
This selection covers 12 remote contractor roles, from everyday email and calendar evaluation to PCB design and cybersecurity. Start with the tools you can already use confidently: the specialist roles expect practical knowledge of the software.

Country eligibility: the Gmail and Google Calendar evaluator role is United States only. The other 11 listings say remote but do not specify eligible countries. Confirm your country during the application process.
The rate ranges are attached to different kinds of expertise, so sorting only by the top number can send you to the wrong application. The $90–$175/hour GitHub, Altium and Security Onion listings call for specialist technical experience; the Gmail and Calendar role asks for everyday tool use plus specific device and account requirements. Pick the role where you can explain what you actually did.
What the software specialist work involves
Many of these roles ask you to record a workflow, create a prompt and describe what a good result should look like. That makes your ability to explain a process useful alongside your ability to complete it.
For example, the HubSpot role covers contacts, deals, pipelines, reports and automation. The Stripe role covers payments, invoices, subscriptions, refunds and disputes. In each case, the useful experience is knowing how those tasks work in practice, including how to recognise an error.
Consider a HubSpot example: a lead is assigned to the wrong owner because its territory field is blank. A useful explanation would show how you found the missing field, corrected the routing rule and checked a second lead. That is an illustrative workflow, not a published micro1 task. It shows the difference between clicking through a tool and being able to assess the result.
Business operations and customer systems
HubSpot, Stripe, Clio and Buildium suit different working backgrounds. Clio centres on legal practice tasks such as matters, documents, time tracking and billing. Buildium focuses on tenants, leases, rent payments and maintenance. Pick the system you have used in real work rather than treating the roles as interchangeable.
Toast POS is aimed at people with substantial restaurant-system experience, including configuration, troubleshooting and daily operations. Its work includes reviewing workflows and producing scenarios, process guides and annotations.
Creative work, teaching and analytics
FL Studio focuses on music production, audio editing, mixing and project organisation. Google Classroom draws on teaching, tutoring or training experience with assignments, learning materials, grading and feedback. Google Analytics asks for practical analytics experience, preferably GA4, across reporting, events, conversions and engagement.
Development, electronics and security
GitHub covers repositories, branches, commits, pull requests and issues. Altium Designer requires PCB design experience across schematics, layout, routing and validation. Security Onion draws on network monitoring, threat detection and incident investigation. These are specialist openings, even though the work contributes to AI training.
For GitHub, a strong example might be a pull request you reviewed or an issue you reproduced and resolved; for Altium, a design decision you made during schematic or layout review. If you cannot discuss the work without exposing a client's repository, design or credentials, prepare a permitted sample instead. Current tool access is a stated preference in most of these specialist listings, so check that before applying.
The Gmail and Google Calendar evaluator role
This role focuses on evaluating an AI assistant's help with email, calendars, scheduling and everyday bookings. It requires daily Gmail and Google Calendar use, practical experience using AI tools, an iPhone with iMessage, and a Facebook or Instagram account.
Applicants must be based in the United States. The listed rate is $15–$30/hour. It is a useful role to compare separately from the specialist software positions because its requirements focus on everyday digital coordination.
What to prepare before applying
Most of the software specialist listings ask for current access to the relevant tool and the ability to make clear screen recordings. Prepare a short account of what you have done with that software: the task, the steps you handled and how you checked the result.
You could describe a HubSpot pipeline you maintained, a track you produced in FL Studio, or a GitHub contribution you made. Use examples you are allowed to share. The aim is to demonstrate relevant experience clearly.
Several roles prefer previous AI data or evaluation work. Toast POS and Security Onion explicitly say prior AI experience is not required. That still leaves the software and professional-experience requirements in place.
micro1 describes its general expert path as applying to an opportunity, taking an AI interview, getting onboarded and starting work. The exact assessment can differ by role. Its expert overview also says you can track an application in the talent dashboard. Set aside time to explain a real workflow clearly, rather than memorising generic AI terminology.
When an application progresses, check the expected hours, paid activities and country eligibility alongside the rate. The selected descriptions do not state a fixed weekly workload.
micro1 says expert payments follow a twice-monthly schedule. That says when a payout cycle runs, not how many paid hours or approved tasks this particular role will provide. Before accepting, ask whether the listed hourly range applies to tracked time or an output-based equivalent, what quality review applies, and whether training or setup is paid. See micro1's expert support programme for its published payment schedule.

Common questions
Are these employee jobs?
The 12 selected listings describe contractor roles. Read the terms for the specific opening before accepting work.
Do I need to be a programmer?
Many of these roles draw on other skills: restaurant operations, music production, legal administration, property management or teaching. Apply against the requirements of the particular role.
Can I apply from outside the US?
The Gmail and Google Calendar role is US-only. The other selected listings do not give a country list, so remote availability needs to be confirmed for your location.
Will I need to record my screen?
Most specialist software listings ask for clear screen recordings of workflows. Check the individual posting and plan how you would demonstrate the tool without showing private customer data, account details or licensed material you cannot share.
